MINE GEOLOGIST – Dawson Mine (Moura, QLD)

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will be responsible for the field geological duties and short-term model generation and validation across Dawson Mine, specifically aimed at supporting the D&B function with reactive ground management. 

You will manage the reactive ground process from risk assessment, program development, field duties, database management and timely communication of specialist advice to the technical and production teams. Geological input into drill and blast design process and driving improvement projects will also be key to the role.

You will also be required to provide key inputs into the operational geology processes such as exploration planning and operational planning and support to ensure delivery of results. 

To be successful in this role, you will hold tertiary qualifications in Geology and will have demonstrated experience of geological practice, preferably within the coal mining industry. You will have proven experience delivering best practice geological support, with a track record of developing continuous improvement in your daily activities. Your high level of strategic thinking, attention to detail, planning and problem solving skills, effective communication and demonstrated commitment toward safety will be key to your success in this role.  You will have experience with geological modelling software (MineScape preferred) and experience in geological database management (AcQuire preferred) would also be advantageous.
