C&M Environmental Superintendent (PRC) - Trend/Roman Site, Canada

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Environmental Specialist to join our peace River Coal asset in Canada.

The Care & Maintenance (C&M) Environmental Superintendent (PRC) coordinates the overall management of the environment function for the Trend/Roman Mine and more broadly for Peace River Coal, providing timely guidance and service to C&M personnel to ensure delivery of the mine’s performance targets, compliance to corporate and legislative requirements, and the development and implementation of the environmental compliance and improvement plan.

The Environmental Superintendent is the functional lead for environmental matters at the operation and is responsible for developing the site environmental programs and working with the C&M team to achieve and maintain compliance with all relevant environmental authorities, legislation and regulations.

The Environmental Superintendent also plays a key role in maintaining functional relationships with provincial and federal regulators by influencing policy direction, and leads environmental approval processes so that the PRC project portfolio can be effectively delivered. The Environmental Superintendent will also lead improvement at the site by implementing strategies endorsed by the Environment Manager.

You will possess significant experience in the natural resources industry, with at least five years of this on an active mine site with a demonstrable track record of consistently meeting or exceeding clear and measurable business objectives. The ideal candidate will have fostered relationships and have experience in negotiating technical requirements with regulators. You will have significant experience in stakeholder engagement, specifically First Nations with Knowledge of Canadian and provincial regulatory processes.

You will have high level time and resource management with strong communication and negotiation skills at all levels as well as stakeholder Relations, especially First Nations.  

You will have Tertiary qualifications in environmental discipline. A Strong background in geochemistry hydrology would be looked at favourably
